Portray the feeling of a foggy day in the mountains with Blue Mist, set in a minor mode! This is a “six note” piece playable with just flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet and trombone. The trombone part is slightly different from the low winds and euphonium to avoid sixth position C. The work is in C minor, but the concert Ab is never utilized. If it helps, you can therefore have your students think in the key of Bb! If you are short on percussionists and you have timpani available, omit the bell part first.
