TromBonAppétit was commissioned and premiered for a concert of the same name to raise funds for those who are no stranger to suffering. My dear friend, Dr. Dave Begnoche arranged an incredible benefit concert for the Gastroenterology and Nutrition clinic of Cook Children’s hospital of Ft. Worth in partnership with Texas Christian University. During the 2016-2017 school year at TCU, the campus-wide theme was “food”, so a concert on the subject was a perfect opportunity. After all, an incredible aspect of music is the fact that it can give a voice to those who need their story told. For the families at Cook Children’s – the basic need of a parent feeding their child is often a life-threatening struggle. Therefore, the high ambition of this musical composition is to communicate the path we hope for all young patients (and sincerely anyone who is a suffering): a journey from sickness, fear and pain; to aid, answers and hope; to ultimately the state of being healed. Because if hope does not disappoint, this means that hope appoints – and so we look forward to a healed body, a new life and a future never before imagined.

Dedicated to Cook Children’s Medical Center of Fort Worth, Texas.
Commissioned by Dave Begnoche and the Texas Christian University Trombon Summit. Premiered guest trombone quartet artists Steve Wiest, Alex Iles, Bill Reichenbach, John Wasson, guest conductor Haley Woodrow and the Texas Christian University Jazz Ensemble
