2022 Chamber Music Composition Program at Tarrant County College

Creative   •   June 1, 2022

It’s that time of year again! Here’s my yearly article about the Chamber Music Composition Program in partnership with Tarrant County College. It’s the fifth annual summer of new music now in 2022, and we are still passionate about teaching aspiring composers the skill of how to fulfill commissions! To date we’ve had about fifty compositions written and recorded for Brass Quintet, String Trio, and Saxophone Quartet. We also have either live video or page turning scores for each work as well!

This past year, we partnered once again with Mid Cities Brass and for the first time with the Amorsima Trio:

To team up provide student composers with the opportunity to exercise the skills to fulfill commissions. In my previous article from last year, the 2021 Chamber Music Composition Program at Tarrant County College I cover Mid Cities Brass’ “Iter Multorum” program during 2020 and COVID, in which we actually were blessed to grow! Not mentioned in the article, but I’m proud to now present, is the resulting work we did in partnership with the SAGA Saxophone Quartet. Between these ensembles we were able to give two full length pre-recorded Facebook “live” video concerts. I have a video of excerpts for the Brass put together in the aforementioned article, and for the first time please enjoy the Saxophone Quartet excerpt video:

This past summer in 2021, we did yet another two full length pre-recorded Facebook “live” video concerts. Here is the video of excerpts for the Amorsima Trio, who did a fantastic job not only performing but also recording both the audio and video:

You can easily see why we are so thrilled to have the Amorsima Trio returning! We are also thrilled to announce that the Saxophone Quartet from the Lone Star Wind Orchestra will also be joining us this year.
